  2. Recent Class Project

    November 29, 2011 by Administrator

I’ll take time to enjoy the upcoming cold nights with a cup of tea in a hand painted coffee mug. The warm brown, limited pallet, was chosen to match my new kitchen decor. (I am still working on my kitchen face lift.) The mugs were a Dollar Tree find and the paint was Plaid Folk Art Enamels.

  3. Angels Among Us

Painting angels for Christmas  cards and ornaments using enamel paints on frosted glass bulbs  (from Hobby Lobby).

    Angels step by step.

Using a non-traditional color scheme is fun. I love the purple and gold combination.

  6. Rose Jewelry Stand

    October 26, 2011 by Administrator

I’m going to use this as a decorative holder for my jewelry on my night stand.  No more knocking earrings off the night stand when reaching for my glasses.

    I used the following:

One sheet of decorative scrap book paper

One metal candle holder (from the dollar store)

One plastic decorative wall plate (also from the dollar Store)

    Acrylic paint

    Mod  Podge or white glue

    Glitter

I painted a One-Stroke Cabbage Rose  with buds on the scrap book paper. I cut the design out to fit the wall plate. I coated the front of the wall plate with Mod Podge then I added the glitter to the rim of the plate.  I centered the scrapbook paper cutout on the plate. The wall plate came with a PVC cover which I snapped in over the design. To finish I glued the back of my plate to the top of the metal candle holder.

I like my finished project.  I can think of a lot of uses for a small stand like this.

  9. Simple One Stroke Greeting Cards

    July 7, 2011 by Administrator

    Simple One Stroke Greeting Cards

These simple greeting cards were painted on watercolor paper using Plaid Folk Art paints.

The background is painted first.  I used a dampened brush to slightly wet the paper.  I added the muted stripes of bright color allowing the colors to bleed.

The vines, ferns and leaves were painted after the background dried. The foreground plants were painted using black/licorice paint and floating medium together on the brush.

  10. I am Busy!

    June 19, 2011 by Administrator

I have been very busy lately.

    Face painting

    Examiner.com

This week I face painted at a local community event. See the newspaper coverage by clicking the face painting link.

I posted my first article with Examiner.co, an online newspaper. I am the new Lansing, MI, Arts and Crafts Examiner. I have included a link above.

Next week is the big yard sale (weather permitting). I have worked hard to sort and purge the mountain of crafting supplies I own. I have much more work to complete by Saturday. I will also sell hand painted greeting cards and other artwork.

For readers in the Lansing Michigan area:

The Big Sale is Saturday and Sunday June 25 and 26 starting a 9:00 AM.  Send me an email for the address if you are interested.
